The sand bed may be clogged with mineral deposits that won't backwash up.
Slightly more dark colors we placed on the earth (think roofs and roads), the more heat our communities will absorb. If you don't feel vacuuming is necessary, then at a minimum brush the pool walls and bottom weekly.
